“And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!”—Romans 10:15
We don’t have to be a preacher to live out Romans 10:15. We share His love and let Jesus change people’s hearts. Sharing the Gospel is both a responsibility and a privilege for us.
What will you do this month to be set apart? It takes courage on our part to be willing to be bold in our faith. I have been knitting gifts to give away since 2019. In the 6 years I have been doing this, I have no idea how many items I have given away or how my gift or prayers impacted their life. The reality is, I may never know and that is okay.
This past week, I have been able to bless others with what I have made. As of today, I have given away 7 items. The one that touched my heart the most was to the male nurse that took care of my mother at an unexpected ER visit on Wednesday.
She is fine. Not any definitive answers, but not drinking enough fluids, probably the culprit for her increased confusion. The nurse helping her was so good with her. As we were getting discharged, I was thinking, I wish I had something to give him.
The Holy Spirit pricked my heart and reminded me of the men’s beanie I had in my bag. Since he was bald, I figured he more than likely wore hats in the cold weather, so I asked him if he wore hats. He said, yes, I wear beanies.
I replied, well, I knit gifts to give to people to let them know I appreciate them and if this hat fits, it is yours. He tried it on, and it fit perfect! It just so happened, it was my knitting day, so I was sporting one of my Knit, Pray, Crochet shirts as well.
I told him, As my shirt says, I knit, pray and crochet. I pray over what I make and ask God to lead me to someone to bless. You have been a blessing to both my mom and I today. Thank you.
He acted like he was excited, but for all I knew he was just trying to make me feel good. The next day, when a nurse called to follow-up and check on my mother, before she hung up she said, I just wanted you to know how much it meant to Jody that you gave him that hat. He wore it the rest of the evening. He even took a picture and shared it in our group chat. I let her know, how good he was with my mother, and I would make sure to make note of it on any survey I received.
This Christmas season, let us be set apart from the secular world. How can God use you to minister the hope of Jesus with those that don’t know Him? God empowers us to share His love and grace anywhere we go; gyms, coffee shops, work, shopping…EVERYWHERE.
Our love for Jesus is what gives us the desire to share it with others. Being obedient to God’s call and trusting He will do the rest is how we point others to Christ. Only God can awaken their hearts.
Father God,
Remove the spirit of fear to help me live out Romans 10:15 not just this Christmas season, but every day of the year. May I be able to speak Your truth with grace. I ask for You to awaken the hearts of those who have turned from You. Use me as a light to point others to Jesus this week. For those struggling with being bolder in their faith, give them the courage to speak words of life into those you put in their pathway. I pray these things in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.
December Verse
“And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us; and we saw His glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.”—John 1:14 (NASB)
