“Since we are living by the Spirit, let us follow the Spirit’s leading in every part of our lives.”—Galatians 5:25 (NLT)
Sowing love is a spiritual gift. More than likely I won’t ever see the outcome of the seeds I am planting through Knit, Pray, Share. However, it gives me peace knowing whether I am planting or sowing, God alone is the one who grows it, not me. God is able to use us to accomplish His will….leading lost souls to Jesus. I am not doing what I am doing for any praise or credit. If that were the case, I would have stopped doing it long ago. It isn’t all about me. It all about Jesus.
No matter our shortcomings, God wants to use us to build His kingdom. If I waited for perfection in my knitting or being able to knit at a certain skill level, I not only wouldn’t be a part of a knitting ministry, but Knit, Pray, Share would have never been written. I also would not be writing a weekly devotion and sure as heck wouldn’t have a YouTube channel talking about it.
Don’t focus on your limitations but how God can use you despite them. While I have always had leadership qualities, it is the love of Jesus that has been leading me to minister in ways I never dreamed possible.
God sent Jesus as our example of how to love and serve others and the Holy Spirit to as our Helper to do this. The Bible is full of stories of Jesus’ examples of how we can walk in love. In Mark 6:34, Jesus had compassion on the people. He preached about His Kingdom in love. We can do the same.
God gives us the ability to walk in love toward other people. Each person you encounter matters to someone. Am I truly loving my neighbor as myself as Mark 12:31 instructs? That clerk at the store is someone’s daughter, wife, husband, son, or friend. They deserve the same kindness, respect, and love that we give to those people in our lives.
We engage, lift up and support the people we encounter. Think about how our world would change if everyone treated others as if they were one of their cherished loved ones? Can you think of where you can lead by love in your community this week?
Father God,
Forgive, we when I let the stress of life affect my kindness toward others. Help me to follow Your example of walking in love. I know You have placed each believer in a specific place and time to be used by You. Help me to shine Your Light in our dark and fallen world. Lead me to Holy work in hidden places. I pray these things in the name of Jesus. Amen.
July Verse
“Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.”—Matthew 6:33
I have added Matthew 6:33 to my morning routine to say before I get out of bed each morning. Lord, help me to seek Your Kingdom and Your righteousness today. It is also my phone screen saver for the month of July too.
