I have written about how noticing those around you is a gift. Have you thought of ways that God has blessed you where you can some how share that with others in your community?

God wants us to use the gifts that He has given us to encourage those around us. It is much easier to make excuses for what I don’t have than to utilize my God given talents. Honestly, I am not that good of a knitter but the fact that I can knit some basic stitches allows me to bless people with some handmade gifts in the name of Jesus. 

What ability has God entrusted you with that you can utilize that will benefit those in need? If you can’t cook, can you wash dishes and volunteer to assist with meals at a homeless shelter? If cleaning up after others isn’t your thing, what about offering to help with child care at a shelter while the parents take classes to learn life skills or get much needed counseling? Love animals? Call an animal rescue group or shelter to see where you might be able to contribute. There are so many organizations out there that are in need of volunteers, it is just a matter of finding the right fit for you.

Living out Matthew 25:40 tells me to do what I am doing for none other than Jesus. It isn’t about me, it is about being the hands and feet of Jesus. Every time I give away a hand knit gift, I am not expecting anything in return. As long as I have that attitude then there is no room for disappointment. It is no different when you listen to that nudge and offer your service to an organization that is in need of people to help lighten their load.

Dear Lord,

Help me to live a life on purpose for a purpose This isn’t about me, it’s all about You. Lead me to volunteer/mentor opportunities where I can share the love of Jesus. I ask that You clearly direct me on how and where to utilize my spiritual gifts this week. It is in the name of Jesus that I pray these things. Amen.

My memory verse for April is “Do not let kindness and truth leave you; Bind them around your neck, Write them on the tablet of your heart.”—Proverbs 3:3 (NASB) It is a good reminder for me to bind God’s Word and kindness to my heart.
