Not Losing Sight

“Therefore, holy brothers and sisters, who share in the heavenly calling, fix your thoughts on Jesus, whom we acknowledge as our apostle and high priest.”—Hebrews 3:1

It’s easy to get sucked into feeling overwhelmed when you think about all that you need to get done for the day. When this happens, we easily fall into the trap of losing sight of how blessed we are, at least I do.

Despite all of the tasks that lie ahead of us or any health issues that we may have, there is always something to be thankful for in our lives. Fix your thoughts and eyes on Jesus. Rather than face your day with dread, keep Him at the front of your mind and let go of any feelings of inadequacy.

The way I am able to do this is my quiet time in the morning. I read my devotions and say my prayers. This is what refuels and recharges me to pour into my knitting and writing to accomplish what God wants me to finish each day. God has clearly been guiding my hands during this process. If I don’t spend time meditating on God’s Word each morning, it is impossible for me to not feel overwhelmed with all I have to get done for my book, blog and website.

Maybe you are in a waiting period. Rather than be frustrated, look at all of the ways that God has blessed you. When you do this, you will be fueled with gratitude, not negativity. When I hear “Counting Every Blessing,” By Rend Collective I can’t help but lift up my hands and sing, I am counting every blessing, counting every blessing, Letting go and trusting when I cannot see,I am counting every blessing, counting every blessing, Surely every season you are good to me.”

What are your blessings that you can thank God for today?

Dear Lord,

Give me a thankful heart for all I need to get done this week. I ask that I not lose sight of how blessed I am and to count every blessing you have sent my way. Help me to enjoy every aspect of my day. Fill me with Your peace and joy that provides rest for my soul. I pray these things in the name of Jesus. Amen.

If you are memorizing Psalm 56:3, “When I am afraid, I put my trust in you,”  is it helping you to let go of your fear and trust God with whatever is heavy on your heart?
